We’re excited to share the latest updates from West Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District! As February unfolds, we have some fantastic events coming up that you won’t want to miss.
First, we’re opening registration for Soil School 2025—a symposium-style day of learning designed to help you understand and improve the health of your soil and ecosystems around your home. Additionally, we’re offering Weed Watchers, a workshop aimed at helping you identify and manage invasive plant species in our area. Also, be sure to check out our latest article to see where you can access local agriculture in our District.

Join us in supporting Tryon Creek Watershed Council’s largest volunteer event of the year, on March 15 from 9- noon. Our urban conservationist will be leading planting and invasive plant removal at the Lewis and Clark site, but volunteer wherever calls to you! The day ends with a pizza party! If you’re a new or seasoned gardener or curious about soil health for landscaping, stormwater solutions, or other reasons, be sure to sign up. Learn how to make your home and land wildfire-resilient with hands-on workshops from Portland Fire & Rescue, Oregon State Fire Marshall, and West Multnomah SWCD. Find CSAs, Farmers Markets, and Farms in Your Area: We’ve compiled opportunities to sign up for CSAs, find farmers markets, or visit farmstands in the West Multnomah SWCD service area–supporting local farmers and eating fresh! If you live outside that area, we encourage that you check out PNWCSA.org to find CSAs and farms near you!
