Aurora Villa Juan joined our staff team in January as our Demographic Data Analyst Intern. In this role, Aurora will work with a data analyst mentor at Portland State University and our staff to help the District collect and analyze information to help inform strategies that will further accountability to diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
Aurora is a senior at Portland State University majoring in Data Science and minoring in Mathematics, with diverse programming experience and mathematical applications. She has academic and professional experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data sets and presenting analysis results in an accessible way. Aurora additionally brings expertise in managing and maintaining sensitive data sets and systems. She has skillfully managed multiple software programs including data management systems, interfacing between platforms, and communications software. Aurora’s leadership in the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Sciences (SACNAS) as an Engagement and Recruitment Coordinator showcases her experience and support of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Lastly, Aurora’s time working at the sporting goods store, Cabela’s, has led her to adopt its mission statement, “to inspire everyone to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors.” That mission correlates with West Multnomah SWCD’s mission of providing resources and expertise to inspire people to actively improve their environments.
