Through a 319 grant from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District teamed up with the Forest Heights Homeowners Association (FHHOA), Green Girl Land Development Solutions, the Tualatin River Watershed Council (TRWC), Clean Water Services (CWS) and the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) to identify opportunities to improve stormwater conditions in the Cedar Mill Subwatershed.
The plan identified opportunity areas throughout the developed landscape including homes, roads, schools, parks, and more. An interactive map with video tours of potential projects as well as a comprehensive plan with 60 identified project sites as well as best management practices and related materials were all created out of this innovative program. Multiple educational tours have also been a product of this project.
The HOA has dedicated resources to implement the plan and has started to plant numerous hillsides with trees to help enhance stormwater function in this sub-watershed.
