Ainsworth School, located in SW Portland on Vista Avenue, is very fortunate to have a few natural areas on the grounds where students can gather to learn about forest ecosystems, journal, and create art. The greenspace has a mixture of native and introduced plant species, providing a perfect opportunity to demonstrate good stewardship practices to the students. We helped them identify the beneficial native plant diversity present as well as the invasive weeds that have taken over in some areas. We are also providing funding to help them pay for the tough job of removing English ivy, holly, and other invasive species and to help pay for new native plants to replace the invasive ones.
