Celebrate the bees, bats, beetles and birds that are important to our ecosystem! Join the Oregon Zoo as it kicks off National Pollinator Week (June 18 to 24). West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District will have a booth along with many other conservation organizations for a Pollinator Party, Saturday, June 16th ! Come find us for all kinds of information about planting for pollinators, such as bees, birds and butterflies.
Many other educational opportunities are available at the Pollinator Party – find out what steps are being taken to help endangered butterflies and to put the plants they need back in the landscape. Meet a beekeeper; learn to identify our native bumble bees and put their location on the map. Build your very own bee and match it up against the more than 500 species we have in the state. Ask all the pollinator questions you can think of and get answers from biologists and experts.
The Pollinator Party will feature experts who will inspire the community to take on the challenge of creating a pollinator-friendly yard or neighborhood. Helping to create a better environment for hummingbirds, bumblebees and butterflies will not just benefit those species, but help the planet and other species as well.
The zoo will offer pollinator-friendly crafts and activities for the party.
Cost: free with zoo admission.
