Local Work Group Meeting, Natural Resources Conservation Service
February 13, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
| FreeThe U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) administers several programs that can provide financial assistance to private landowners for conservation work. Landowners can be farmers, woodland owners, habitat managers, ranchers, and anyone with a few acres of land and an interest in conservation.
In recent years, these federal funds have paid for conservation such as planting cover crops on farm land, improving irrigation efficiency, thinning forests for wildfire risk reduction, enhancing wildlife habitat in oak woodlands, and many other practices.
The NRCS works closely with conservation staff at West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, and staff from both organizations will be present. Both organizations are seeking feedback from landowners on the west side of Multnomah County. All are invited to attend to offer thoughts on current opportunities and make suggestions for future programs.
Tentative location is the Sauvie Island Grange, 14443 NW Charlton Rd, Portland, OR 97231. Check back for final location details. Refreshments will be served.
